Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Your eyes are your most noticeable and striking feature.

They portray so much about your personality, health and emotions. Yet heavy eyelids or dark circles can make us look older or more tired than we feel.

Sometimes, age or genetics can create excess skin on the eyelid, which may droop. In severe cases, eyelid skin can become so loose it creates folds of skin that droop over the eyes and impact on vision.

Blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery creates a younger, refreshed and rejuvenated upper eyelid. It can also make the eyes look bigger by reducing the encroaching skin, without changing their true shape.

Our highly experienced aesthetic plastic surgeon, Dr Eddie Cheng can deliver natural results that enhance your appearance and your confidence.

Key Questions about Eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Before Procedure

Who is a good candidate for eyelid surgery?

Eyelid surgery may be an excellent option for people who wish to refresh and rejuvenate the area around the eyes. People who have loose or excess skin in the upper eyelids, as well those with puffiness, “bags,” hollowing, or wrinkles around the eyes, may be good candidates for an eyelid lift. In certain cases, minimally invasive approaches, such as anti-wrinkles or dermal fillers, may be considered instead of, or in combination with, eyelid surgery. Our doctor will meet with you to discuss whether you are a good candidate for eyelid surgery.

How can I prepare for eyelid surgery?

During your initial consultation, Our doctor will examine your eyelid structure, including the amount and quality of the skin and soft tissue in the upper and lower eyelids. He will thoroughly discuss your goals and expectations, including possible risks and the best way to prepare for your surgery. He will let you know what to expect before, during, and after your procedure, and he will answer any questions that you may have.

During Procedure

How is eyelid surgery performed?

Eyelid surgery can address problems in the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both lids. The technique used will depend on the particular anatomy and needs of each patient. Upper eyelid surgery can improve upper eyelid contours by removing excess skin. Incisions are well hidden in the crease of the upper eyelid. Lower eyelid surgery can reduce the signs of ageing in the lower lids. Incisions are hidden either inside the lower eyelid or just below the eyelash line. Fatty deposits may be repositioned and muscles may be tightened to improve support.

What should I expect during eyelid surgery?

Eyelift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis in our state-of-the-art, in-office operating suite. The length of your procedure will depend on many factors, but on average, the procedure usually takes about 1-2 hours. You will need someone to drive you home.

After Procedure

What can I expect after eyelid surgery?

Every surgery is different, and you will receive detailed post-operative instructions for your specific needs.
